Ferdinand Hodler — Exhibition Catalogue (1972, University Art Museum Berkeley) + Original 1973 Guggenheim Invitation

Beautiful vintage exhibition catalogue on the Swiss Symbolist master Ferdinand Hodler, published in 1972 by the University Art Museum, Berkeley. Features essays by Peter Selz and contributors Iura Bruckschweiler, Phyllis Hattis, and Eva Wyler, along with numerous full-color reproductions of Hodler's landscapes, portraits, and late works.

This copy includes a rare bonus: the original 1973 Swiss Bank Corporation printed invitation calling attention to the Hodler exhibitions at

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (Feb 2 - Apr 8, 1973)

and

Harvard's Busch-Reisinger Museum (May 1 - June 22, 1973).

Ephemeral items like this are seldom preserved, making this copy especially collectible.

Condition: Solid and clean interior with vivid plates. Cover shows visible edge wear and some staining/tide marks (see photos). Includes vintage newspaper clippings found inside the book—left as part of its provenance and charm. A well-kept, nicely aged catalogue with unique period ephemera.

A great addition for collectors of Hodler, Symbolism, Swiss modernism, or Guggenheim exhibition material.
